New York, NY. Porter Contemporary presents Contemplation Consumed, a group exhibition combining works by Johanna Goodman, Natsuko Hattori and Lori Larusso from January 19 through April 30, 2017 at The Yard, with an opening reception to the public with the artists on Thursday, January 19, from 6 - 8 PM.
Through the perspectives of 3 artists--Johanna Goodman, Natsuko Hattori and Lori Larusso--Contemplation Consumed explores the idea of happiness in our daily lives. Hattori's hand sewn sculptures of bursts of color symbolize transformation and intimacy of human spirit while Johanna Goodman's two dimensional paintings create a balanced atmosphere of order and form. These are tied together by Lori Larusso's flat perspective painting commentary on daily life through the consumption of food. Each work in the exhibition has a unique meditative quality created through the use of color and texture.
The exhibition was specifically curated by Jessica L. Porter, owner of Porter Contemporary, for the recently opened offices of The Yard, City Hall Park. “This was a great opportunity to take artists I’ve worked with through the gallery as well as through my advisory services and curate for a beautifully designed creative work environment of a growing company” says Porter. This is The Yard’s seventh office to open in the city.
Contemplation Consumed is the first of a series of exhibitions Porter will curate for The Yard.
