Elizabeth Knowles creates paintings and installations inspired by natural patterns. She has been the recipient of numerous grants and residencies including the Puffin Foundation,Teaneck, NJ; Miami Beach Cultural Council’s Artist in Residency Program, Miami Beach, FL; The E. D. Foundation, Kearny, NJ; The Millay Colony for the Arts, Austerlitz, NY; YADDO, Saratoga Springs, NY; Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, Sweet Briar, VA; The Lancaster Group Award, New York, NY; Artists Space Artist Grant, New York, NY; Ludwig Vogelstein Foundation, Brooklyn, NY; Joyce Carlyle Memorial Fund, The Banff Centre, Banff, Canada; and the Alex Demond Fund, The Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, IL. She received her MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and her BA from Pomona College, Claremont, CA. She currently lives and works in New York City.
