Jeff Huntington

March 20 - April 18, 2015

Opening Reception: Friday, March 20, 6 - 9 PM

Porter Contemporary presents Catalyst, a solo exhibition of works by Jeff Huntington from March 20 through April 18. A reception for the artist will be held Friday, March 20, 6 - 9 PM.

Jeff Huntington’s newest series of works, Catalyst, represents not only the subject matter of the exhibition but also refers to Huntington’s painting processes. Since 2012, Huntington has had an evolutionary change in his own painting moving seamlessly through various styles and techniques and ultimately combining these processes layering multiple dimensions within each work.

Through structured collage Huntington has created portrait paintings of individuals who have had a deep and long standing effect on human history. Huntington explores imagery of Harriet Tubman, Huey P. Newton, Charlie Chaplin, King Leopold, William Blake and more with superimposed patterns creating multiple portraits and viewpoints in one beautifully rendered painting. Each subject is its own catalyst and each rendered artwork combines not only physical dimensions but historical and cultural ones as well.

Catalyst will be on view at Porter Contemporary through April 18.
