Sharon Florin was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1952. She works predominantly in the medium of oil painting, focusing on the urban landscape, with an emphasis on the architectural, cityscape and reflective elements of the environment. Florin received her Bachelor of Arts cum laude, majoring in Fine Arts, from Adelphi University in 1973. She has also attended the Art Students League in Manhattan, studying painting, pastel and printmaking. Florin has shown her work in numerous solo exhibitions, group and juried exhibitions over the years. She has been commissioned to paint specific sites as well. She has received awards from The National Association of Women Artists, The Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, the Allied Artists of America and the Butler Institute of American Art, among others. Florin has maintained a studio in Long Island City since 1980, where she continues to explore the urban landscape.
